Hi there, I'm Rachel your insight into Southampton's theatre, comedy and more provided by the Nuffield Theatre.
Edward Gants Amazing Feats of Loneliness has just left me impressed, as I was unprepared for its content due to its dull looking web promotion not showing the modern comic fast paced play in the light of its shocking and entertaining manner. It’s received good reviews from the Telegraph, Guardian, Times... claiming it to be a bold, intelligent and potentially cult of a show. However, is only in Southampton till Saturday and so can be easily missed if you go by the conventional advertising to shape your judgements.
The whole show was a curious amalgamation of absurd storytelling executed with twists and close to the wind jokes (possible the pick of the bunch “there is no place for child molestation in the catholic church; so they are building one.”) making the audience laugh out loud at the amalgamation of short stories that were more of a modern adult pantomime with references to drinking games, death, puss, sexual innuendo and more alternative additives that made the show more hilarious. The set, outfits and acting were very fitting with a look of a conventional Victorian circus show which turned out to be a modern take with spectacles and gore forming the basis of the show. The audience applauded in unison and therefore collectively spurred me to take such a passionate stance and promote this hidden but impressive production.
GO SUCO AND SEE!!...
